A lab test on checking of performance of URM structure of resisting earthquake force

Bangladesh Network Office for Urban Safety (BNUS) is going on research on how the condition of Unreinforced Masonry Structure against lateral force such as earthquake, can be improved. To find solution, a pilot lab test has been performed. In this case diagonal tension and off axis compressive load was applied. And observed that in case of diagonal tension only end crushing has occurred. Again off axis compressive load was applied at various inclinations. In case of diagonal tension only shear can produce but in other sample the applied stress can be distributed in normal and shear stress.
